Drivers Korg K61 Controller For Pc

Hi all, I recently purchased an older (2006??) Korg K Series K49 keyboard controller. I use a Pod HD pro for my soundcard, and of course Reaper 32 bit on Win 7. The manual for the Korg is really bad in connectivity descriptions and basically leave you scratching your head.or at least it does me, lol. I can't connect via usb, with my Midi / USB adapter, and there is only a midi out on the back of the korg. Has anyone had or have experience with this type of a setup?

I'm not sure if I can go midi out into the pod for control over midi synth programs like that. I only want to use the controller for keys on the softsynth programs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have and use a Kontrol 49, it is a very nice keyboard. Go to the Korg website and download the driver for the K49, install the driver.

Get the driver here:. Then plug you K49 in with a USB cable, you don't need the adapter. Plug the USB cable directly into your computer, don't use a 'hub', this is the only connection you need for the keyboard as it also gets it power through USB. While at the Korg website, also download the 'Scene Editor' and the manual for the K49.

Hi Bluzkat, Thank you for the reply. Yes, I had already installed the correct driver successfully for the unit and connected via usb. The Korg did not show up in Reaper. So I am at a loss as far as getting the Korg to be recognized by Reaper (Via USB) and usable. Bluz, I too have the Korg Kontrol49. I like it, but haven't figured it out yet. Are you able to use it as a control device as well?

I had planned on using it as a control device as well as to play soft synths, ect. However, I tried to understand the manual and was left with a headache. I haven't used midi much, so much of it didn't make sense to me. I've pretty much always just recorded audio. I went through the entire manual, following the instructions to the detail for 'manually' programming something, and none of it worked out for me. Since that time I've had a my C drive crash and have started over using a new OS as well. I have been re-setting up Reaper, trying to be more efficient with what I have, but haven't tried to set up any settings for the Korg yet.

I have it working with USB, but are you supposed to have Kontrol midi 1, 2,and 3 set up in a specific way? I know one of those is for the midi cable out on the keyboard, which I have yet to use. I'm not sure which one is which though. The manual mentions USB A and B and midi out.

Do you set up one for control, another for enable or what? I currently have one set up for control+enable and the other two enabled.

I don't know which is for what though. It doesn't label in Reaper like the manual is labeled. Then when 'controlling' I'm not sure how to set that up? Do I just go through the actions list and twist knobs and sliders? Or, do I use the 'scenes' with the Korg software? I guess I'm just wondering if you could describe how it works for you.

I've never found any info on this keyboard on the Reaper boards. I have put off trying this again since I first tried and made a mess of it. Thanks for any help you can provide. Thanks for the quick response!

Actually I already did that but not by right-clicking a knob because not every FX supports that. Instead I clicked the Param-Button in the FX window and chose FX parameter list -> Learn -> and then the knob. So what then appears is a new window (see att.).

But no matter which encoder or fader I move on the K49, nothing happens. It seems to me the problem is, that I didn't configured it as a controller but just as a simple MIDI device. But when I want to set it as a controller, as I said, I don't know which protocol to chooose (Mackie, HUI, OSC, etc.). You don't set it as a controller. I have two midi devices and use them to do tons of tasks in Reaper but they're keyboard/controllers (and have tons of knobs) but I use the midi thing not the control surface protocol again. What you wanna do is make sure that you're running in absolute mode for instance and when you learn a param, choose absolute in that window too.
